Oil Tycoon Wiki

Oil Tycoon! NPC locations

Oil Tycoon! has four named NPCs that matter. Each one sits in a fixed spot, and three of them feed directly into badges, secrets or income.

The NPCs

NPCWhereWhat they do
Miguel (shopkeep)Shop area on/near your plotSells the mug ($100) and hints; tells you there are six secrets; hands you a gift after an ending
John OilBig Oil IncThe antagonist — the choice against him decides your ending
JackBeanstalkRuns the beanstalk race; beating it awards the Jack? badge
Mr. FishleyFishing spotThe fishing run: five fish, leaderboard behind it

Miguel — the most useful NPC in the game

  • Sells the mug for $100 (bigger container).
  • States the secret count outright: "Look, there are six secrets."
  • After one ending he reappears with a gift — "Droppers run 25% faster" in a verified run. It is permanent.
  • Rebuilt plot, same Miguel: the gift persists across your rebuild.

John Oil — the ending NPC

John Oil runs Big Oil Inc and the confrontation with him is where both endings branch. He talks before the fight ("You can't blow up Big Oil"), and the decision — blow him up or show mercy — is the whole difference between Ending 1 and the True Ending.

Jack and the beanstalk

Jack waits at the beanstalk for the race. The race is one of the six secrets and the Jack? badge sits at a 62.9% clear rate — the full route is on the beanstalk race page.

Mr. Fishley

The fishing spot runs a five-fish set with a leaderboard behind it. How the run works is on the fishing page.

Everyone who is not a worker

Workers do jobs; NPCs give meaning to them. Four named contacts matter:

NPCWhereWhat they do

JackBeanstalk regionRuns the race that awards Jack?
Mr. FishleyFishing spotFive fish, deposit, leaderboard
Story contactCEO/permit zoneCarries the ending choice

Talking to Miguel first

Miguel is deliberately the first face you see, and his dialogue is not flavour: he flags that six secrets exist before most players have left the plot, which is the game telling you exploration is half the content. Exhaust his menu before you spend — his shop covers the early purchases priced on the factory upgrades page, and buying blind from a wiki when the shopkeeper is standing there is how $10 gets wasted.

NPCs and the ending path

Only the CEO/zone contact touches the endings, and you cannot reach them before one rebirth. The other three — Miguel, Jack, Fishley — are available from the first minutes and stay relevant: Miguel's shop scales, Jack's race is a badge, Fishley's leaderboard is a side ranking. None of them lock out, so talking late costs nothing except the hints you skipped.
