Oil Tycoon! production guide
Production is the spine of Oil Tycoon!: crude comes out of the ground, your line adds value at every stage, and the sell point pays per item. Everything else — the mine, fishing, side games — is decoration on top of this loop.
The loop in one line
Oil spill → barrel → purifier → gas canister → upgrader → fuel → sell.
Each arrow is a purchase you make, and each one raises the price of what lands at the end.
The pages
- Production chain explained — every stage and what it adds.
- How to collect oil — barrels, cups and collection pits.
- Workers — well, drill, rig and farmer.
- Product values — the price table.
- Offline production — what runs while you are away.
- Early upgrades — costs and buy order.
The chain in one pass
Oil Tycoon! pays for processed product, not for crude. The full chain looks like this:
| Stage | What happens | Where it fails |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Extraction | Oil appears on your plot and pools in the collection area | Not enough droppers, or the pit is already full |
| 2. Containers | Cup and mug carry oil from the pit into the line | Route too long, carriers idle at a blocked corner |
| 3. Factory | Conveyors move units past the upgrader, which raises their value | Upgrader bought but no power behind it — units pass unprocessed |
| 4. Sale | Fuel is sold at the sell point and cash lands in your balance | Sell point starved: everything upstream is stuck |
The order matters when you debug. Money flat means you look at the sell point first, then walk backwards until you find the stage that is backing up. Every problem in this game is visible as a pile of items somewhere.
The three numbers to watch
- Throughput per stage. Each stage must move at least as fast as the one before it. A $10 conveyor segment placed after a bottleneck does nothing; placed before one, it lifts the whole line.
- Value per unit. Raw oil sells low. Every completed processing step multiplies what a unit is worth at the sell point, which is why the $250 upgrader out-earns most early purchases.
- Time unattended. The gap between when you leave and when the line stalls is your offline buffer. Workers and a balanced route widen it; a hand-fed line has a buffer of zero.
What to read next
New players start with the beginner guide, which puts these stages in buying order. If the line already runs and money is flat, the problem is value — go to oil products and check what each stage should be earning. For the automation half, workers covers who to hire and when.
How the five production pages fit together
Read them in the order the oil moves: production chain for the whole flow, collect oil for the first hop, oil products for what each stage earns, workers for the automation that runs it unattended, and offline production for what happens when you close the game.
FAQ
What is the production chain in Oil Tycoon!?
Oil is collected into containers, fed through the factory where the upgrader improves it, and sold as fuel. Every stage before the sell point is a place the line can stall.
Where does production usually break?
At the stage that is backing up: a full collection pit, canisters piling before the upgrader, or fuel sitting unsold at the sell point. Each symptom points at a different fix.
Does production run when I am offline?
Yes — the game produces offline, so your line keeps earning between sessions as long as the route was balanced when you left.
